A Place Beyond The Pines

Score: πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ

Starring: Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendes, Bradley Cooper, Mahershala Ali, Ben Mendelsohn, Dane Dehaan, Emory Cohen

Director: Derek Cianfrance

Synopsis: Ryan Gosling plays a Carnival biker, who gets Eva Mendes pregnant, and resorts to robbing banks to help pay for their baby. His loose canon nature leads him to make a few wrong decisions and that’s where Bradley Cooper comes in. He is a police officer who chases Gosling after one of his bank robberies. Gosling goes to hid in a house and that’s where Cooper confronts and shoots Gosling, resulting in him falling from a window to his death. Leaving his son to grow up without his real father, and sending him on his own journey, where he later meets up with Bradley Coopers son. Causing more chaos between the two families.

Review: “If your going to ride like lighting, your going to crash like thunder.” That quote always stuck with me, it’s from a great scene in the movie between Ben Mendelsohn and Ryan Gosling in which they are discussing the bank robberies. This movie is excellent from start to finish. A truly ensemble cast, that meshed so well on screen. I thought the setting of the movie was spot on, and a really great back drop for this neo crime thriller. You cannot day enough good things about Ryan Gosling, he can convey emotions so well, without saying a word. I have always enjoyed this movie. I think it is an underrated classic, that is very thoughtful, and well done by a director that i didn’t know a lot about.

Favorite Scene: I’ve always liked the scene of Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendes, and the baby all sitting together eating ice cream. This is where they take the picture together, and for a brief moment they feel like an actual family.

Recommendation: I highly recommend this movie, Ryan Gosling nails this role and continues to be one of the can’t miss actors of the last decade. Go watch this movie!!

Thank you!!
